UALA Expanding its Offerings this Year

UpdatedThursday January 16, 2020 byDan Junk.

To All UALA Select Players and Families,

UALA is pleased to announce our Summer programming for 2020. UAHS Varsity Head Coach Kyle Olson has been working closely with UALA to offer Summer programming that builds on our Spring Select experience and parallels the the High School Summer Programming. UALA Leadership and our High School and Middle School Coaches strongly believe that UA lacrosse players competing at a higher level together in the Summer builds the skill set, relationships, and, most importantly, team culture that fuel our success in the Spring. UALA will manage the Summer experience for grades 4, 5, 6 and 7. The Middle School Coaches will manage grade 8.  Coach Olson and the High School Coaching staff will manage the Summer experience for grades 9 through 11.

The UALA Summer 2020 program will include:

  • Extending the Select lacrosse season into the first 2 weeks of June. Our select players and teams will play two more weeks together including weekday practices and weekend tournaments
  • All UALA teams will compete in the Cranbrook Lax Jam in Detroit on May 30th and 31st ( and the Ohio Lacrosse Festival in New Albany on June 6th and 7th (
  • Teams will practice three nights per week for one and a half hours a night in preparation for those events
  • Registration and communication will be through the UALA website
  • Select Coaches will continue on with their teams to provide continuity for players and families
  • Program guidance and master coaching will come from our Middle and High School Coaches.  We are blessed to have long tenured, experienced, and successful program leaders with an unrivaled record of player development. These master coaches will plan and run practices and manage games, while coaching our players and guiding our UALA coaches.

UALA endeavours to provide a predictable, consistent Summer program that builds on our Spring experience.  We want our players and families to start their Summer with a fun, immersive lacrosse experience in Upper Arlington before pursuing other opportunities.  We intend to create a seamless transition that makes it easy to do so. UALA and Upper Arlington Lacrosse want all of our Select players and families to have ample notice to plan for next Summer.

The Upper Arlington Lacrosse Program and UALA leadership recognize that our players have many opportunities to play Summer lacrosse. We strongly encourage all UALA players to prioritize Upper Arlington Lacrosse during the beginning of the Summer before pursuing other interests.

Thanks and Go Bears!

Kyle Olson, UAHS Head Lacrosse Coach

Sean Caine, UALA Summer Select Commissioner
